Cesar Chavez Marcha Celebration
   The second annual Cesar Chavez Marcha, a state holiday celebration, will start at 4 p.m. March 31 at Port Avenue and Agnes Street.
   Participants will march down Agnes to the Antonio E.Garcia Education Center, 2021 Agnes St.
   Free barbecue and entertainment will be provided by Miller and Moody high schools.

   Children's home receives computer
   When Port City Honda recently replaced its computer equipment, it donated the computer equipment it had been using to the South Texas Children's Home in Beeville.
   The donation was part of a Lease to Donation Program, implemented by American Honda Motor Co. Inc.
   As part of the program, Port City Honda had the opportunity to select a nonprofit organization to receive the donation of used equipment.
   Becky Moore of the South Texas Children's HomeMoore said the children will benefit greatly from the donation.
  
   Koch wildlife preserve dedicated
   Koch Petroleum Group, L.P. and the Coastal Bend Bays Foundation recently dedicated the Koch Wildlife Learning Preserve.
   The 120-acre tract of land at Koch's Refining and Petrochemical Complex on Suntide Road will be used for wildlife management to protect the natural habitat of wildlife, birds and plants. It also will serve as a wetland educational center for students and conservationists in the Coastal Bend.
   The Koch Wildlife Learning Preserve has been protected by a conservation easement granted to Koch by the Coastal Bend Bays Foundation/Coastal Bend Land Trust.

   Ministry helps refugees in Valley
   The Christian Men's and Women's Fellowship of Central Christian Church of Corpus Christi recently had a hands-on service project to help the Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries in Los Fresnos.
   The men built bunk beds to furnish a dormitory and the women raised money to purchase mattresses for the beds.
   Southwest Good Samaritan Ministries provides assistance to people in need, especially Central American political refugees, Cubans, and individuals from countries in political turmoil.
   MG Builders Supply and Zarsky Lumber donated lumber for the project.
  
   Relay committee seeks torchbearers
   The Salt Lake Organizing Committee for the Olympic Winter Games of 2002 is seeking inspirational Americans to carry the Olympic Flame during the Salt Lake 2002 Olympic Torch Relay.
   Nominate yourself or someone who embodies the spirit of the Olympics.

   A&M-CC cookbook on sale for $10
   The Staff Advisory Council at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is selling a cookbook, "Islanders Recipes."
   Proceeds from the sales will go to the Dorothy Yeater Scholarship Fund.
   The cookbook features recipes with an international flavor. They are $10 each.

   Opportunity to view new Bob Lacy Ford
   The Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce will have a Chamber After Hours evening from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bob Lacy Ford, located on U.S. Highway 77 across from Wal-Mart in the Calallen area.
   The event is an opportunity to see the new Bob Lacy Ford facility. Special guests will be the Northwest Business Association.
   Food, beer, wine, and soft drinks will be provided. Jack's Dinner Bell will provide catering.

   Packery Channel forum at A&M-CC
   The Coastal Bend Bays Foundation will sponsor a forum on Packery Channel at 6 p.m. Monday at the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Natural Resources Center, Room 1003.
   A representative from each side of the Packery Channel dredging issue will discuss their point of view. A social for the event begins at 5:30 p.m.

   Talk show hosts debate on channel
   "Punto de Vista con Cruz Ruiz Colomo" will present a live debate on the Packery Channel issue on Tuesday.
   The talk show is simulcast from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. every Tuesday on Majic 105.1 FM radio and airs on KTMV- TV (Channel 6 cable).
   "Punto De Vista" is designed to educate and enhance the community. The show focuses on children, youths and women of all ages regardless of race, religion, or political affiliation.

   Recycling contests in Flour Bluff
   Flour Bluff Independent School District students are invited to enter two contests in the Janet F. Harte Public Library Students' Recycling Contests.
   The contests are open to all Flour Bluff students from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Entry deadlines are March 30.
   To enter the invention contest, students must create an original useful invention made from recycled materials.
   To enter the essay contest, students must give reason and details of why recycling is important. Entry forms and contest details are available at the offices of Flour Bluff Independent School District campuses.
  
   Whooping Crane Strut registration
   The 13th annual Whooping Crane Strut will begin at 7:45 a.m. April 14 at Fulton Navigation Park on Fulton Beach Road.
   Events will include a one-half kilometer kid's run, a 5k and 10k run, and a two-mile walk.
   All registered participants will receive a T-shirt and a post-event light breakfast at Charlotte Plummer Seafare Restaurant. Awards will be given for each event.
   Registration forms are available at Rockport City Hall, the Rockport Beach Park Entry Booth, and the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce. Registration is also available online at www.activeusa.com
